5 Tips on How to Repair Damaged Hair

Here are five pieces of advice on how to repair damaged hair, so it regains its health and shine.

Lots of people experience the hassle of damaged hair, such as split ends, breakage, and lack of lustre.

From overusing heat styling tools, chemical treatments, or environmental elements, it’s vital to take steps to revitalise and restore your hair.

Keep on reading for our 5 tips on how to repair damaged hair.

Repair Damaged Hair – Deep Condition Regularly

To repair damaged hair, and to keep your hair healthy, deep conditioning is essential.

Utilise products with nourishing ingredients, such as keratin, argan oil, or coconut oil, to restore moisture and repair the hair from the inside out.

These treatments should be used at least once or twice a week, and if the hair is particularly damaged, a hair mask or leave-in conditioner is recommended.

Limit Heat Styling

Using hot styling tools such as curlers, straighteners, and hair dryers on a regular basis can damage your hair.

To reduce heat-damaged hair, it is best to limit the use of these items and always use a heat-protection hair product before styling. Try to let your hair dry naturally instead of using a hair dryer.

Repair Damaged Hair – Be Gentle with Wet Hair

When your hair is wet, it is much more delicate and prone to snapping, so it is essential to handle it with care.

Refrain from brushing your locks when they are wet, as this can lead to stretching and breakage.

To detangle your hair, use a wide-tooth comb and start from the tips, working your way up.

Avoid Chemical Treatments

There are many different chemical hair treatments, such as perms, relaxers, and hair dye. However, these can cause a lot of damage to your hair, especially if not performed by a professional.

If you want to colour your hair, make sure to contact us and get it done professionally. We can run through many different options and advice on which is the best for you.

If your hair is already damaged, we would recommend avoiding chemical treatments altogether. This will give your hair time to recover, especially if it’s bleach-damaged hair.

Get Trims Regularly

Maintaining the health of your hair requires regular upkeep through trims to ward off split ends and breakage.

Get a trim every 6-8 weeks to keep split ends from worsening and damaging your hair further.

The frequency of trims may vary depending on the type and condition of your hair.
